Sugoi (El Cangrejo)

This used to be one of my favourite restaurants here in Panama for the past few years, and it has been pretty good but the last few times service and quality of food has definitely changed . But I always like to keep going back as sometimes it could be a bad day. Went again last week and was even more disappointed than usual and that has to be the last time we go. It has a new name Tsugoi but with out the T, so now Sugoi, with new decoration , quite nice and light and what seems like completely new staff. Food was very average , certainly not how it used to be and really really bland and the service was definitely below par.. Having to try and find someone not on their phone so we could order something else was just too difficult and in the end we just gave up. They used to have really great and lovely staff , but now it seems like some people are from the street with no training or understanding of service. Not looking for 5 star service ,but definitely some attention and not having to wait til someone finishes their Wattsapp or Facebook conversation. So unfortunately poor quality food and poor service

Muy buen ambiente la remodelación les quedó súper y la comida igual de deliciosa lamentablemente en esta ocasión el servicio fue bastante lento y malo tocaba levantar la mano pedir las cosas varias veces.

No se dejen llevar por el cambio de look. La comida en sugoi sigue igual de buena. Un viejo confiable que siempre da en la marca.

Sugoi acaba de renovar su imagen con un concepto más fresco. La comida y el servicio siguen siendo TOP, especialmente en El Cangrejo con la amable atención del personal.

I liked the spicy tuna roll, the Sugoi roll was just ok in my opinion. The vegetable tempura was pretty good too. Not much in the way of wine selection unless you want to purchase a bottle. Marcela our server was very nice as was the other staff members we encountered, good service all around. The location is nice but the use of air freshners inside was a bit much so I needed to sit outside which was pleasant.
