St Francis Café & Market
This new cafe is off the beaten track, but worth looking for. We stopped for lunch and were not disappointed. The pulled pork sandwich was right out of Chicago. A little spicy but the coleslaw calmed it down. The hamburger was amazing. Very tasty beef. The french fries were crispy and thin. The ambience is casual and you get to watch the cooking class through the large glass wall that separates the class room from the dining room. I will definitely return. There is a large selection of breakfast items which were still available on the menu at lunch time! Next time I will try that.
Los Cebollines
It's hard to find good Mexican food in Panama, but I like to try. The margaritas had a chemical taste, the guacamole had no taste and the main course was uninspired. The service and atmosphere was fine.
Doscucharas (Costa del Este)
I went with some friends. We had a long leisurely lunch. The service was very good, the waiter friendly. The food was fresh and tasty. Four of us shared the volcan baud for dessert. Wow. Rich and delicious.
Alma Llanera Soul Kitchen
I went for lunch with two friends. The service was friendly and fun. The food was delicious. We had the baked camembert to start. It was great...but could have been cooked a bit longer. All of our entrees were beautifully presented and delicious. The wine selection was good. I would definitely return.
Thai Garden 2112
After having to hail the valet, we were greeted with a bow and a namaste at the door. The decor is beautiful, soft, warm. The chairs are substantial and comfortable. We thought we would have to choose one or two items from the tasting menu, but for $37 you get EVERYTHING on the tasting menu and it was all amazing. The wait staff was attentive in just the right amount...a rarity in panama. I would go back here for lunch or dinner.
Azafrán
Azafran in San Francisco has wonderful ambience and incredible food. They have the best bread in all of Panama. I would go there just for the bread. It's has a perfect crust, soft and airy inside, and the flavor is what bread should taste like. I could make a meal of the bread!!
