Casa Stizzoli
The food was absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend eating at Casa Stizzoli. A couple of recommendations..... For the Love of God please bring back printed menus the digital menu is impossible read especially when you don't bring a smartphone to the restaurant...... The selection of non-alcoholic drinks is really poor and there were a number of kids in the restaurant. Lemonade, ice tea, a selection of fresh juices, etc would really be appreciated instead of Soda. A kids menu would also be a good idea. Overall I would really recommend this restaurant!
Da Stefano Trattoria
If you have not yet eaten here I would highly recommend it. It is definitely one of the top Italian restaurants in Panama. Very reasonably priced and the food is excellent. Every single dish I have had here has been superb. Makes it tough to pick a favorite one!
The Dining Room At American Trade Hotel
Very disappointing experience all round from trying to make a reservation to the actual food. Had to phone 7 times to make a reservation for the Sunday Brunch. Nobody was answering the number, when they did they would transfer it to the restaurant who would not answer and the call would hang up automatically after a certain number of rings. When calling reception and asking to make a reservation without being transferred to the restaurant they decided it was easier to hang up than to try resolve the problem. After the 7th call I finally managed to make the reservation. Much to my surprise when I arrived this morning for the brunch there was no reservation... The lady attending to us did not want to seat us as we did not have a reservation. After making a fuss we were finally seated. The hostess did not even try to be polite but made a point of showing us what an inconvenience and annoyance we were as guests. The food was equally as disappointing after having read good reviews about it. Over priced and average at best. $6 for a fruit juice, $25 for a tiny piece of meat with one egg on it. My only recommendation is to look else where in Casco Viejo. There are plenty of places offering way better value for money with better food quality and staff that is pleasant and service oriented.
Brew Stop (Panama Pacífico)
Beer menu is very complete with some really good beers available. Service was great but the food was absolutely inedible. Nachos was swill in a bucket with 5 soggy chips on top and of the three burgers ordered all three were left on table as nobody could eat them they were so bad. After waiting so long for a new restaurant option in Panama Pacifico this is a huge disappointment.
Pan & Canela (Panama Pacifico)
Having been a loyal customer at Pan y Canela since it opened in Panama Pacifico I am truly disappointed in the spiraling downward quality of the food and the hike in the pricing. It looks as though the restaurant is in their death throes trying to get as much money from the client for as little investment as possible before closing. A real pity as it used to be the best restaurant in Panama Pacifico.
Frutería Deli-Bistro
Terrible service, staff are doing you a major favor helping you. Dirty floors, tables and seating. They don't serve iced tea because it is unhealthy but they do serve Coca-Cola.... Hmm doesn't make much sense. Same goes for ketchup. We have now eaten here a few times each time hoping against hope for an improvement... No such luck! Even if it is the only place open serving food, it is better to go without.
Roadster`s Diner (San Francisco)
The owners have definitely made an effort with the decoration of the diner but I think that is where it ends. I found it overpriced for food that was poor to mediocre at best. San Francisco offers many other restaurants which will offer you way better quality and service at the same or even at a better price. We have eaten at the diner three times and each time hoping for an improvement, I think it is time to call it quits. The diner is more of an eating novelty and as per normal here in Panama will be packed for a good few months until the clientele bore and move on to the next new thing. Our meal today took 1 hour and 15 minutes to be served. It took the waitress one hour to explain why she could not serve us the drinks that we had ordered after us asking 7 times what the hold up on getting a drink was. Turns out that there was no water thus no soda. I think that could have been explained within 5 minutes of us ordering the drinks. When the food was finally served it came out in dribs and drabs. The whole serving process took 40 minutes for 4 dishes. I only hope that the diner can get their act together as I know I will not be returning and I live 100m away. I think the residents living close by that were hoping for a good quality, quick and easy alternative to having to jump in their car are going to be sorely disappointed.
Edén
My immediate reaction on reading the menu was outrage at the prices, so before I even started eating I was already not too happy. Eden has joined the growing list of restaurants in Panama that are ripping people off. Despite the exorbitant pricing we decided to stay and try the food. Eden is definitely not a "kid friendly" restaurant. They have no seating for children and although they profess to have a children's menu when we asked for various items off it we were informed that they only really had chicken fingers. They claim to be Mediterranean Fusion but in reality their offerings are just a rehash of the normal platters you get at every restaurant in Panama. In all fairness their presentation of the food was very good and I had the chicken which was good. My wife had the $27 steak which was sadly lacking in flavor and we ended up not eating most of because of a very odd after taste to the meat. The big catch is that your dish comes with no side dishes... you have to order everything separately which adds to the already expensive prices in increments of $4,50 and more. There is absolutely nothing I would bother coming back to Eden for and you can definitely get a much better meal at a lot of other restaurants in Panama at a much much better price. Eden had better come up with a new plan otherwise they will be another in a string of restaurants in San Francisco that will be out of business within 8 months. Thanks but no thanks, one try was enough!
La Terrazza del Trump .
Great setting and ideal for business or just with friends. Only drawback is that it is seriously over priced. Service was very good although the main course took a while to come out as they don't do the cooking outside on the deck it is all done inside the main Trump building. The food was average and most definitely not something to write home about and I think the price is for the privilege of sitting on the deck at the Trump. If you are not too interested in being outside on a deck there are a few other restaurants within 15 - 20 minutes from the Trump that will give you much better food and a MUCH better price so look around before eating here.
Sushi Itto (Obarrio)
We have been going to Sushi Itto since 2007 but I think this will probably be our last visit to the restaurant. Up until the beginning to 2013 for my wife, my daughter (3 years old) and myself to eat at Sushi Itto the final tab has generally been in the region of around $45. Earlier in 2013 we noticed a sudden jump in our bill to around $65 for the same meals that we always order. Yesterday we ate at Sushi Itto and I was very surprised that for less than what we normally order (We normally order 3 rolls with various other plates and only ordered 2 this time) the bill had jumped to $88. For an iced tea it is now $4 (Come on guys, this is a complete rip off when it costs you in the cents to make it). For the quality of food in Sushi Itto, the service and what they have to offer it is definitely NOT a restaurant that it is worth blowing $88 in. My recommendation... go somewhere else, save yourself roughly 50% of the bill and have a better meal.
