The Londoner
Let me tell you why the Londoner Pub and Café (restaurant section formerly called Ozone Cafe-see below) may be the best restaurant in Panama City. 1-Quality and Consistency This can’t be overstated. The food is always fresh, and you can taste the quality in every bite. Maybe even more important, everything I’ve order taste the same, every time I order it. In Panama, you can’t even count on that at a chain restaurant! This is because they’ve had the same chefs for decades, and they really care about what they make. 2- Flavor and Variety Vegetarian, Kosher or Standard; everything from Salads, Wraps, Burgers, Fish and Chips, amazing curries and even Jambalaya. The range of flavor profiles is complete. It’s the only restaurant in Panama I could actually eat from/at (yes, they deliver) every day and never get bored. The Londoner may not have the ambience or plate presentation as a 5-star restaurant, but it more than makes up for it with full portions of flavorful, satisfying food. In this regard, they have no competition. I have dined at nearly every restaurant in the city. When I want an experience, I see what’s new, when I’m hungry, I call Londoner. 3-Customer Service and Ambience I know, I just said they don’t have a 5-star ambience, but that sort of depends on what you’re looking for. It may not be fancy, but it’s clean and comfortable. The staff make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive, and it’s obvious, they care about you having a good meal. They are also very fast, even during a busy lunch, they seem to get the food out from their open kitchen in minutes. I love a restaurant that is clean and confident enough to let you watch them prepare your food. Whether you sit in the Pub, the Restaurant area or on the sidewalk café tables, The Londoner is casual dining that just feels like home. PS Yes, they deliver! No apps, just call them direct and the food arrives fresh and hot faster than any other service I use. PSS So wasn’t this Ozone Café? Yes and no, the Londoner absorbed the Ozone staff and recipes, but the partners/owners have gone their separate ways after more than 2 decades of running this successful gem together. The cooks have now even added a few new dishes of their own, expanding the menu but keeping all the old favorites (TRY THE LEMON PEPPER CHICKEN) Lastly, while I wish the new Ozone the best of success, I will keep getting my “comfort food” from the Londoner.
