Royale Cookie Bar (Casco Antiguo)
These cookies are delicious. A bit pricey but huge so it’s easy to see why. Love the salted carmel pretzel- it’s my favorite by far!
Katané Pizza (El Cangrejo)
I was set to give a spectacular review until they packed 3/4 of a pizza into a plastic bag rather then a box. Essentially destroying the pizza, which arguably is the best in the city. The pizza crust, which is usually very hard to get right is perfect. The ratio of cheese and sauce also perfect. This is easily my number one pizza place in PTY. Then they stuck my pizza in a bag 🙈🙈🙈
Kappers 507
This was bar none the worst delivery we have ever ordered. The nachos were nothing but bare chips with a side of COLD cheese sauce from a jar (not cheddar cheese as advertised). They did not include sour cream and the chili was cold as well. They sent regular potatoes instead of sweet potatoes and the burger was greasy. It was a terrible takeout experience. I can not recommend them in the slightest.
Bululú
This was a delightful hidden gem on Calle 40. We happened to pass by and were enticed in by the specials and the friendly people working there (not obnoxious on the street pulling you in, but genuinely friendly). What a wonderful find! We had breakfast- my companion had a Panamian breakfast with eggs, ropa viejo, tortilla, queso and more and my plate was overflowing and needed a second plate for the American Breakfast- which I highly recommend. Toast, eggs cooked to order (mine were a delicious omelet, which was huge), bacon, cheese, butter and marmalade. It was more then I could possibly eat at one time. I am very happy we found Bululu and plan to go back soon!
Coliseum
This was a super delicious dinner. My companion and I shared the land and sea platter. It was easily enough for 3 people. Shrimp, calamari, chicken and a tiny bit of beef prepared with peppers and onions. It was very good- if anything it was a bit too salty- next time we will ask for them to use less salt. It also didn’t have a lot of beef. The calamari, however, was cooked absolutely perfectly. It was outstanding. I must admit I mostly ate the calamari- it was tender and not chewy at all. I would like to try some of their other dishes also. They are downstairs from Gatto Blanco- we passed it a few times not realizing they were in the same building. We will definitely be trying this restaurant again.
Os Segredos Da Carne
This was easily one of the best restaurants I have been to in Panama. So incredibly delicious. The salad bar is huge- with a selection unrivaled anywhere I have been. There are various soups and side dishes available as well. Then they start coming around with the meats. I am absolutely going back again. There was chicken, pork, steak and more. It was all delicious beyond belief. And you must try the grilled pineapple- dusted with cinnamon and sugar it compliments almost every meat offered. And is addictive. So are the small garlic rolls offered by the waiter. Their secret is mayonnaise rather then butter- something I will try at home- they was outstanding. Just writing about lunch makes me want to go there again- and I was just there yesterday!!
Fulo`s Gastrobar
We had the patacones with Cerdo and they were absolutely delicious. As were the sweet potato fries drizzled with syrup. Crispy on the outside yet tender inside and surprisingly light even though they were fried. They were done perfectly! Fulo’s is a super casual location with high bar stools and a limited menu - however what they do have, if what we ordered was any indication, is excellent.
Muh Panamá
We came one day for lunch and had burgers. They were thick, juicy and cooked well. We also had the mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. I thought the prices were high for what we received. The restaurant also has a section in the front where you can buy streaks and other cuts of meat to bring home. And for those who speak English Muh is pronounced Moo in Spanish.
Agave Azul
Omg what an amazing find. This restaurant tucked away by Super 99 in Punta Pacifica has some of the most outstanding Mexican food I have had outside of Mexico. It is more Tex-Mex then traditional Mexican but it’s done really well. I had the nachos and they came served on a bed of black beans and chili, topped with a ton of cheese and other stuff. So delicious I had to force myself to stop eating they were that good. I also highly recommend the horchata- it too is just delicious. The service was excellent- super attentive- definitely a rarity in Panama. This was a wonderful lunch and I will come back soon. Great place to grab a bite if you are anywhere close- especially visitors here in Punta Pacifica.
New York Bagel Cafe (El Cangrejo)
Breakfast was excellent. Looked good, tasted great. We had a bagel with cream cheese and the french toast special with eggs over easy. Everything was cooked to order properly and presented well. The french toast was crispy on the outside and tender within. While service is partially help yourself and partially waiters, the wait staff was attentive and helpful. We will definitely come back!!
