Lovely decor though lower wattage bulbs would improve the mood lighting. Very friendly and attentive staff and owners. Beautifully printed menus and funky chairs. Where this restaurant lets itself down is the food. The arepas to begin we're good and tuna tartare enjoyable. The ceviche Penelope was quite original though perhaps not my favourite as it lacked the tang of citrus. Wasn't convinced by the beef carpaccio which tasted like salami somehow. The tuna steak was perfectly cooked but didn't have the flavour of the advertised wasabi reduction. Other dishes were decent but didn't stand out. Think this place has potential but currently is nothing to be excited about.
Luna
Nice menu, especially the fish dishes and seafood. Particularly good place to take clients. Wouldn't recommend it so much for friends as it is quite formal.
Maito
One of Panama's very best. The stuffed squid with ink is fantastic. This is Panamanian food at its best and a must-go place for visitors to the country. It's a lovely setting and a wonderful menu.
Ginger
The sushi is authentic and the menu forward-thinking and inventive. Generally the food is goo. The portions however are small, the prices high and at times the results aren't all that spectacular. Prefer the platos fuertes to the sushi menu. Love the sake menu - very cool. Atmosphere lacking as it's always half empty but I do like the decor.
La Posta
Consistent, high quality food. Great wine list. Delicious dishes. Lovely decor. Very little I don't like about this place. What I LOVE is the range of breads and bread sticks which are addictive. One of Panama's best.
Masala
Lots to choose from and the good is usually pretty good. I like the ability to choose how spicy though in most cases I think the food is milder than advertised. Like the decor. Main complaint would be that it is a bit expensive for regular Indian food. Certainly worth a visit though.
Sabor de La India
One of my favourite takeaway places. It's a very casual place but comfort food that reminds me of home. Great starters, especially the dosa, and delicious curries. Spinach chicken and butter chicken are my favourites. Washed down with a decent IPA. Wish the curry menu had a few more options. Otherwise love it.
Market
Market is like my local bar, a place you go to time and time again for your favourite comforts. Best burgers in Panama, only place for fish n chips, and an excellent wine list. Great for brunch too.
The Shack
If you're craving a rack of ribs, go here! And if you're really hungry order the full rack. Awesome.
Brujas de Cachiche
First of all, excellent pisco sours. Very important. Then a variety of consistently excellent, fresh and delicious Peruvian dishes. All in a lovely setting with decent service. Was happy with everything we had, though one disappointment that the anticucho de corazon wasn't available. Probably Panama's top Peruvian restaurant at the moment.
