Dainer 16
If you want an eclectic dining experience in Panama, try Dainer 16. Yesterday I went for Sunday brunch with my niece and daughter. I was pleasantly surprised as I walked in. Their focus is the food with a small yet tasty selection you would find in an LA dinner…modern yet comforting. We shared a picnic table with a couple and simply enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. My daughter had waffle and chicken, my niece the bacon omelette, and I the waffle platter. The portions are hearty and allow you to share some of your meal with others. The hash browns were cooked to perfection and the waffles are the best I've had locally. by the way, you can add bacon to any dish for $2.00 (my daughter loved that!) I recommend it for brunch or lunch. It is usually full, but the service is good and prompt.
Tomate y Amor
Two weeks ago, I went with my sister and brother in law for dinner. I had not been there in a couple of months and was happy to see the quality of food and service has not changes. we shared some starters, and the Portobello mushrooms were excellent (the best of the three). The entrées were very good and my sister's pasta with vodka and bacon was the best. I was not too pleased with the desserts as they were too sweet, but maybe that is just my taste. The place is great for dates and small group of friends.
Paladar (Multiplaza)
Paladar is my daughter's favourite restaurant. She always enjoys their beef selection, grilled filet or filet mignon. The latter's sauce is very good and of all places at the mall, their filet mignon is the best. The same is true for their Caesar salad, with just the right measure of anchovy paste. However, their service can be a little slow when the place is over half full and the look of their waitresses is not the most appropriate at times for a family restaurant. I also feel their menu is a bit extensive.
P.F. Chang`s.
P.F. Chang's is probably currently one of the best choices locally for a Sunday lunch with the family. I've enjoyed lunch during the weekends with my family. It is conveniently located, and in the mall is the best choice (price-food-service). The portions are made to share, the service and quality of food is consistent, and there are options for all types of dinners. It can get a bit loud but what Chinese restaurant doesn't. Of course, they offer Vietnamese spring rolls…what is not to like.
Chez Titi - Salon de Té
A different experience is how I would classify Chez Titi. You certainly do not expect the ambience from the outside of the restaurant. Th food is a twist of traditional and new with the use of organic food. I had a late lunch with two friends, and simply enjoyed the service and ambience. The decor is simply superb as well as the little details that make the visit unique. I highly recommend you try the lavender ice cream; it was a great treat..
Chalet Suizo
Last weekend, I shared a fondue chinoise with a friend. I had not had one in a while, and it was as good as I remembered it. I highly recommend it to those who wish to share a nice evening with a friend or date. It is better suited to Panamanian weather than the traditional fondue. The escargot we shared as starters were also great. As usual the service is very good as well as the wine selection. The chalet is always a great dining experience, but it could do with some renovations in the infrastructure.
